IN THE LAKE

People may have short term illness through swallowing or contact with the algae, including: skin rashes, eye irritation, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, muscle and joint pain. Because they are smaller children are more at risk than adults.
Warning: Your dog is at risk if large quantities of this algae are ingested. Keep animals out of the lake until further notice.

THE HERD OF CATTLE THAT GRAZE THE RIVER MEADOW THROUGH THE SUMMER ARE DUE TO START ARRIVING FROM THE EVENING OF MAY 2ND.
EVENTUALLY THERE WILL BE A TOTAL OF 21 OF THEM AND DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF AVAILABLE GRASS, THEY WILL BE ON SITE UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER.
PLEASE KEEP DOGS AWAY FROM THEM, ESPECIALLY DURING THE FIRST MONTH WHILE THEY ARE GETTING USED TO THEIR NEW SURROUNDINGS.
IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE PASTURE IS KEPT CLEAR OF DOG FAECES AND LITTER OF ANY KIND.

The Park is open to visitors 365 days a year. This also applies to the main car park but not to the overspill car park which closes at 5:00pm each day.
The Dragonfly café is open daily between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm (5pm during summer holidays).
The Park is owned and managed by Bedford Borough Council. The Friends of Harrold-Odell Country Park work in partnership with Council staff and run this web site.
Emergencies should be reported to the staff or direct to the appropriate emergency service.
