Green FlagIn the summer of 2014, the Park won the Green Flag Award for the seventh consecutive year. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. It was launched in 1996 and it provides a national benchmark for parks and green spaces.

In making their judgement, the judges considered the following aspects of the Country Park:

  1. The welcome afforded to visitors
  2. Health and safety
  3. Cleanliness and maintenance
  4. Sustainability
  5. Conservation and heritage
  6. Community involvement
  7. Marketing
  8. Management

As in previous years, the award was won through the hard work of the staff with significant contributions in time and effort from Friends of the Park who volunteered for conservation

tasks on a regular basis.
